Parent and Family Engagement Plan
What is it?
This plan explains how Green Valley Elementary will provide opportunities for
families to become meaningfully involved in supporting student learning. Green
Valley values the contributions of parents and family members and is
committed to building equal partnerships focused on improving student
achievement. The plan outlines the ways Green Valley will support family
engagement and how parents and families can help plan and participate in
activities that promote student learning both at school and at home.
How will families be involved in the development of the Parent and
Family Engagement Plan?
Green Valley Elementary has a Parent and Family Engagement Plan and a School–Parent
Compact that meet all requirements of ESSA. These documents are reviewed and revised
annually by a committee that includes parents, Title I teachers, administrators, and other school staff.
Families are invited to participate in school meetings and activities and contribute to the annual revision
of the School–Parent Compact and Parent and Family Engagement Plan. Ongoing opportunities for family
involvement include:
- Quarterly parent meetings to discuss school improvement plans
- Annual review of the Parent and Family Engagement Plan
- Flexible individual parent meetings offered before school, after school, or virtually
- Collaboration with the PTO through the PTO/Teacher Liaison
- Collaboration with ELL teachers, classroom teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators
How will the policy and information be shared with parents?
Information will be shared with families in a timely manner through:
- Printed copies
- The schoolwide digital newsletter, Gator Gab
- Messages through ParentSquare
- Classroom newsletters
- The school website and social media platforms
Information about school programs, meetings, and activities will be provided in a clear and consistent format. Alternative formats and translated materials will be available upon request and, to the extent practicable, in a language families can understand. The Parent and Family Engagement Policy will be shared with all families through Gator Gab and posted on the school website. Student and family activities will be announced in advance through classroom newsletters, ParentSquare, and school social media. Green Valley supports providing a Spanish interpreter at parent meetings and activities whenever possible. The school also uses ParentSquare to strengthen regular communication between teachers and families.
What actions will the school take to provide other reasonable support for parent engagement activities?
Green Valley will provide literacy and mathematics training for families upon request. To increase family participation in their children’s education, the school will:
- Offer meetings at various times to accommodate families’ schedules
- Adopt and implement effective approaches to family engagement
- Participate in a districtwide parent advisory council that provides input on matters related to Title I family engagement
- Develop meaningful roles for community organizations and local businesses in parent and family engagement activities
Annual Title 1 Meeting
What is it?
Green Valley Elementary holds an Annual Title I Meeting during the first nine-week grading period for families
of students participating in Title I programs.
During the meeting, families will learn:
- How the federal government funds the Title I program
- How Title I funds may and may not be used
- How the 1% of Title I, Part A funds reserved for parent and family engagement is used
- How Title I programs support student achievement
- How families can participate in the school’s Title I program
Families will also have an opportunity to share their questions, ideas, and concerns. The 2026 Annual Title I Meetings
will be held on September
School-Parent Compact
What is it?
Green Valley Elementary, its students, and their families will jointly develop a School–Parent Compact. This agreement explains how families, teachers, and students will work together to help every student meet grade-level academic standards. The compact will be reviewed and updated annually using feedback from families, students, and teachers.
How will Green Valley jointly develop with families a School-Parent Compact?
Each year, Green Valley Elementary invites families and students participating in the Title I program to provide feedback on the School–Parent Compact. The Title I team and school administration review and consider all suggestions when updating the compact.
